Second (of three) extract showing how the key social and communal areas of Caer Llan were commandeered for alternative uses
Multivalent spaces
Second extract
The bar is used as a space to discuss welcoming improvisations for the imminent
arrival of MA students, new to Caer Llan. Caer Llan’s walls are covered liberally
with jigsaws made by the owner, Peter Carpenter, and subsequently framed. One group
see a jigsaw as a source of inspiration for an activity that would immediately ‘place’
the MA students firmly into an iconic materiality of Caer Llan.
(from 01:00 onwards) James outlines the sound
group’s ideas for ‘Caer Llan soundscapes' using the dartboard in the bar as a timing-guide
for one of these.
